In this issue - Australian Country issue 22.3
In this issue we’re celebrating the diversity of the Australian country style from the humble hands-on owner build to the grand historic mansion. In the process we’ve travelled from south-east Queensland where we visited Jules and Matt Fish in their Sunshine Coast hinterland hideaway and Simone and Bruce Williams at the gorgeous Queenslander they have renovated in the lush Currumbin Valley. Our travel story focuses on the greater Darling Downs region and the many wonderful food and wine experiences to be enjoyed there. Then we headed to South Australia and historic Hughes Park in the Skilly Hills near Waterford in the Clare Valley and the wonderful garden Alan and Marilyn Wilson have created on their cattle farm on the Yorke Peninsula. Still in that part of the world we visited Lee-Anne and Richard Murdoch’s sheep station, Tuckokcowie. Next up, two dramatically different homes in NSW, one a farmhouse transformed with great flair at Millthorpe in the central west and the other, an architect-designed showpiece perched over a lake near Queanbeyan not far from the national capital. To greet the colder weather our service feature is devoted to heating and there’s design inspiration on every page.
