Road Rider Bike Guide #11

In November of last year, at the Sydney Motorcycle Show, the Australian public got its first chance to see the latest crop of bikes in the flesh.

I wake up early on motor show days, ride into town, and try my best to find a park amongst the hundreds of other like-minded guys and gals.

Approaching the turnstile, juggling an armful of stubby holders and posters that were handed to me along the way, I wave my lanyard at the door man and at last, walk onto the show floor.

You soon forget about all the hassle when you step into that room, surrounded by all the latest and greatest that the bikemakers have to offer. It's always a thrill.

The Sydney show did not disappoint either, with a whole lot of fresh metal on display. There we Aussies got our first glimpse at many of the new motorcycles that are now available, and that are indeed featured in this magazine.

Ducati had a strong presence, showing off its all-new Panigale V4, Multistrada 1260 and Scrambler 1100 models. Triumph too, with its Bobber Black and Speedmaster headlining the stand.

Kawasaki showcased its wild Ninja H2 SX SE, the retro-themed Z900RS and the LAMS-approved Ninja 400, and Royal Enfield drew a big crowd with its two new 650 models, the Interceptor and Continental GT.

Perhaps the biggest unveiling came from Husqvarna, ripping the silk off its new road-going naked Vitpilen 701 and Svartpilen 401.

There's far too many new bikes to name here, so flip over for a comprehensive list of motorcycles from supersports to adventure bikes, and everything else in between.

Who knows, you might even find your next bike.
