There’s lots of summer love in our holiday issue, which features an array of homes with some simply stunning spots for outdoor entertaining. In Queensland we visited the cottage artist Amica Whincop and her husband, Clayton, have restored and added a breezy deck that’s perfect for barbies. At Brookfield, on Brisbane’s western periphery, the Neilson family have built a pavilion to capture views of the surrounding bush. A huge stone fireplace makes this a popular spot even during the cooler months. Down in Victoria, Kim and Greg Kerr have added a “Champagne terrace” to the garden of their home among the gum trees on the outskirts of Ararat, while Danish expat Kat Anderson has brought her own sense of Scandi style to a little hut in the backyard of her home at Lara near Geelong. We were lucky enough to time a visit to the Japanese gardens at Cowra for the Sakura Matsuri festival, when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and lending a gorgeous pink accent to the landscape. Our travel feature took us to South Australia and there’s design inspiration aplenty throughout the magazine
